Mara Gottler

Mara Gottler – Resident Costume Designer, co-founder and Artistic Associate of Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival. Over its 22 year span, has designed 58 productions on both stages.

Free-lance costume designer in theatre, opera and dance. Has designed costumes across the country, as well as internationally. Work has been showcased at World Stage Design exhibition.

Since connecting with Robert Lepage and his company, Ex Machina, has designed costumes for Stravinsky’s opera, The Nightingale and Other Short Fables. Opened at Canadian Opera Company in 2009 and has since toured to Aix-en-Provence and Lyons, France; the BAM Festival in N.Y; the Opera Festival in Quebec City; and is going to Amsterdam and Greece in 2012.

Also recently designed The Tempest with Robert Lepage, co-produced with the Huron-Wendat nation and staged on the outdoor amphitheater on the reserve.

Design Instructor at Langara College in the Theatre Arts programme. Teaches design history and design theory and production skills.

Fashion designer with Mara Gottler Designs, a company now in its 5th season, which has had representation in both Canada and the USA.
