Kelly Deck
It Takes a Village
As a child Kelly pored over architectural plans with her father, developing a passion for interiors and coming, eventually, to see them as a living expression-every texture, form, and line cohering in an ever-changing whole. Kelly studied painting, ceramic design, and sculpture at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and, later, at the University of Wales.
Kelly directed a commercial art gallery and freelanced as an interior designer until she opened Simple Boutique in 2002. Since then she and her team have designed and managed residential interior-design projects, working with a distinguished roster of clients, architects, and construction professionals.
Today, in addition to directing her design firm, Kelly hosts HGTV’s “Take it Outside,” a new design series showing viewers that, with some design savvy, a yard or patio can become an outdoor oasis. Kelly infuses both her company and television series with her talent for creating simple, beautiful living spaces.
